Payment

Unless an authorised credit account has been agreed in writing, payment is required in advance before any repair, servicing or diagnostic work is carried out.

Payments may be made by:

  • Debit Card
  • Credit Card
  • BACS transfer

Should the final amount due be less than the amount paid in advance, any overpayment will be refunded to the original payment method within 10 working days.

Labour Charges

Our labour charges are calculated in 30-minute increments.

The minimum charge is 30 minutes.

Where work exceeds the initial 30-minute period, an additional 30-minute labour charge will apply. Labour will continue to be charged in further 30-minute increments until the work is completed.

Any additional parts required will be charged separately.

Where an estimate has been provided beforehand, we will seek your approval before carrying out any work outside that estimate unless immediate action is required for safety reasons.

Engineer Attendance and Diagnostic Time

Our labour charge covers the engineer’s attendance, diagnosis, testing, fault finding, repair work (where possible), commissioning and completion of all necessary certification and documentation.

Time spent obtaining access, isolating appliances, carrying out safety checks, sourcing technical information, discussing findings with the customer, and completing mandatory records forms part of the labour time charged.

Repairs and Servicing

All work carried out on gas appliances will comply with current legislation, including the Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations 1998, together with all applicable British Standards and manufacturers’ instructions.

Oil-fired appliance work will be completed in accordance with current OFTEC standards.

All work will be undertaken by appropriately qualified Gas Safe and/or OFTEC registered engineers employed or authorised by Hereford Heating Ltd.

Repair and servicing work outside any guarantee period will be charged at our current rates.

Whilst we will always endeavour to attend appointments and complete work within agreed timescales, we cannot be held responsible for delays caused by:

  • severe weather
  • supplier shortages
  • manufacturer delays
  • traffic incidents
  • utility failures
  • circumstances beyond our reasonable control.

Spare Parts

Any parts supplied remain the property of Hereford Heating Ltd until paid for in full.

Parts are covered by the manufacturer’s warranty.

Where a manufacturer’s warranty differs from the terms below, the manufacturer’s warranty shall take precedence.

Guarantee

Replacement parts supplied by Hereford Heating Ltd are guaranteed against manufacturing defects for 12 months, subject to the manufacturer’s warranty conditions.

Where a part proves faulty due to manufacturing defect:

  • During the first three months we will replace the part without charge, including labour where applicable.
  • After three months, replacement parts will normally be supplied free of charge where covered by the manufacturer, however labour and attendance charges may apply.

This guarantee does not cover:

  • accidental damage
  • misuse
  • neglect
  • interference by third parties
  • normal wear and tear
  • defects caused by the condition or age of the appliance.

Workmanship Guarantee

Our workmanship is guaranteed for one month from the completion date.

This covers defects directly resulting from our workmanship only.

It does not constitute a guarantee that an appliance will remain fault-free or that unrelated faults will not subsequently develop.

Customer Responsibilities

The customer agrees to:

  • provide safe and reasonable access to the appliance;
  • ensure the working area is clear before our engineer arrives;
  • secure pets where necessary;
  • protect valuable belongings and furnishings from dust or accidental damage;
  • provide suitable parking where reasonably possible and advise us of any access restrictions before the appointment.

Where an engineer cannot safely access or work on the appliance, the appointment may need to be rearranged and charges may apply.

Cancellation Rights

Where work is arranged at your home or remotely, you may have cancellation rights under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013.

Normally, consumers have 14 days to cancel a contract made away from business premises or online.

However, if you ask us to begin work during the 14-day cancellation period, you expressly request immediate performance of the contract.

If you subsequently cancel after work has started, you will be responsible for paying for:

  • labour already carried out;
  • any materials supplied;
  • any reasonable costs incurred before cancellation.

Once the service has been fully completed, your right to cancel will normally end.

Appointments

Please ensure someone aged 18 or over is present during the appointment unless alternative arrangements have been agreed.

Missed appointments or appointments cancelled at short notice may be subject to a charge.

Limitation of Liability

A properly drafted clause limiting liability while preserving statutory rights.

These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by the laws of England and Wales.
